People facing heart disease should have the knowledge and understanding to take an active role in their care.

Modern cardiac medicine has become extraordinarily capable. Implanted devices sense, record, and transmit more information about a person's heart than at any point in history. Research keeps advancing. Technology keeps improving.

But capability alone does not create understanding. A patient can be surrounded by more clinical intelligence than ever and still leave an appointment unsure what any of it means for them.

Closing that gap isn't a job for one physician, one publication, or one company. It touches the people who build the devices, the physicians and researchers who advance the science, and the academic centers training the next generation of clinicians. OpenHeart exists to bring those groups into the same conversation — around a single shared goal, not a shared employer or a shared product.

Access to information is not the same as understanding it.

That belief is the starting point for everything OpenHeart builds. Some of that work will look like patient education — The Generator, OpenHeart's first initiative, is exactly that. Other work will look like research collaboration, or shared standards, or tools built jointly with the device manufacturers and academic centers who share this goal. The initiatives will change and grow. The belief underneath them won't.
